After a rigorous contest, judges last Saturday settled for four girls in Tamara Gwamba, Rejoice Kauseni, Sarah Kumwenda and Tadala Utah as the finalists from the region.

This Saturday, the contest comes to Blantyre for the Southern Region beauties to fight for a place in the finals.

A total of 10 girls from the Southern region are set to strut their stuff on the runway at Victoria Gardens in Blantyre where judges will be looking for finalists to represent the region at the finals.

Spokesperson for Miss Malawi Africano Phiri said all is set for the Southern Region finals.

“We have Itel as our main sponsor for now. They have pumped in K5 million. Other sponsors are Umodzi Park, Grand Palace Hotel, Chatonda Hotel and Printer Systems,” he said.

Phiri also said artist Sangie, who recently won the UMP best female act, will spice up the event.

“We are expecting a bigger and better group on Saturday. We expect family and friends to come and support the girls,” he said.

Two media giants Nation Publications Limited (NPL) and Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) took over the running of the Miss Malawi beauty contest last year. n
