Miss Malawi postponed

Miss Malawi title holders have the pageant may not be held before the end of this year due to problems promoters Artistic Agency are facing.

Carver Bhima said in an interview that Artistic Agency may not be able to run the pageant this year due to financial constraints. He hinted that the title holders might be forced to rope in a new promoter which will still be at a later date.

“I will be meeting with the Artistic Agency team to see what we can do. It’s already running late for the guys to think of holding the Miss Malawi pageant in December. No ground work has been done so we will have to push for a pageant early 2013,” said Bhima.

He explained that they have been in touch with Artistic Agency since July to start preparing for the pageant and pay the licence fees.

“We understand the current promoters are having problems with organising the next Miss Malawi. Until this problem is sorted out we feel the pageant will be somehow delayed,” said the socialite who revived the pageant in the 90’s.

He added they may have to look at other promoters if that fails.

Artistic Agency director Vitu Kamanga said in an earlier interview with The Nation that they would not be able to sponsor Miss Malawi as they owed money in license fees which they were not hoping to pay off soon.
