Missing Salima child found dead in Dowa

Police are looking for unknown people who are suspected of abducting and killing a seven-year-old boy who went missing last week in Salima District.

The Child was found dead at Chezi Trading Centre in Dowa on Sunday.

Dowa Police spokesperson Sergeant Richard Kaponda confirmed the incident, saying

the child, Desire Mbite, had his heart and private parts removed.

Kaponda said the body was found by mice hunters who reported the incident to Chezi Police Unit.

“Police visited the scene and the body was taken to Dowa District Hospital for post-mortem where results indicated that the boy died of haemorrhage caused by cervical cord injury,” he said.

Kaponda said police have since launched an investigation into the matter.

In a separate interview, Salima Police spokesperson Sergeant Gift Chitowe said the deceased’s parents reported of the missing child last week after he did not return home from Takumana Trading Centre to buy freezits papers.

The deceased came from Chisani Village in the area of Senior Chief Kalonga in Salima.
