The Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (Mitc) has urged Malawian businesses to capitalise on market opportunities by participating in the 61st Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (Zitf) and World Expo 2020 in Dubai.

In a published statement, Mitc said Zitf provides participants access to markets, opportunities to make direct contact with a targeted audience and policy makers regarding investment and trade.

Reads the statement in part: “The World Expo 2020 Dubai is expected to attract 15.5 million visitors over the six-month period of which it will take place.

“Malawian businesses are expected to showcase unique Malawian innovations, art and culture.”

Mitc said attendance could thus provide a platform for entry into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) market which imported approximately $28 billion (K232 billion) worth of goods from Africa in 2019.

Mitc investment promotion manager Modie Chanza was yet to respond to our questionnaire.

Zitf is scheduled to take place in Bulawayo from July 20 to July 232021  while the World Expo 2020 Dubai is scheduled for UAE at Jebel Ali from October 1 2021 to March 31 2022.
