However, Gabriel Kambale and Rodger Mapepa and Gabriel Kambale and Victor Kachepatsonga lost to Mozambican and Botswana teams.

The results saw Malawi accumulating six points after two days of play.

The Malawi team was playing its last games on Thursday as we went to press.

After the second day’s fixtures, defending champions South Africa were leading after amassing 15.5 points, having won all their matches.

On the opening day, Malawi struggled in the singles matches after winning only twice out of eight matches. They drew two and lost four.

Golf Union of Malawi general secretary Hudson Kantwanje said they are happy with the performance so far.

Malawi hosted the competition last year and finished fourth behind South Africa, Namibia and Kenya.
