“We know there are a lot of successful people from Mulanje running big businesses or holding high positions in offices in the country’s cities or abroad, let them come forward to support us,” pleaded Chisesa.

Meanwhile, farmers from Lujeri estate through Sukambidzi Small Holder Farmers Association have provided the hospital with building materials which include bags of cement and iron sheets worth K5 Million (about $7 849).

In a separate interview, member of Parliament (MP) for the area (Mulanje South) Bon Kalindo hailed the initiative and pledged his support.

Over K1.2 million worth of properties belonging to the students accommodated in the hostel got destroyed in the fire.
