Veteran golfer Justice Mkandawire was the toast of the day at Lilongwe Golf Club when he outsmarted 80 golfers to be crowned Design Printers Valentine Golf champion.

He counted out Zone V1 player Adack Sailesi after the two had tied on 36 points to cart home a refrigerator courtesy of Design Printers.

Master Mbale counted out Clement Chilungulo to claim the third place after they had tied on 35 points.

Anick Manek emerged fifth with 34 points.

“I had a great day and I am happy to have won today. I thank Design Printers for this valentine treat. They have always been there on Valentine’s Day to sponsor golf,” said Mkandawire.

In the ladies category, Regina Mwanza amassed 24 points to beat Maria Lee Chow who had 23 points.

Mwanza received a trophy and a refrigerator for her feat.

She commended her playing partners for creating a good environment which helped her enjoy her game and carry the day.

In the junior golfers’ category, Pat Chitsanzo was declared the winner after scoring 40 points ahead of Sny Tayub and DJ Benson who tied on 38 points. However, Tayub came second after counting out Benson.

Design Printers spokesperson Ham Bhaghat said his company sponsors valentine golf annually because it wants to bring families together to celebrate love.

“This is an annual event and we’ll be back next year. I thank all the golfers for this huge turnout. You have made this event a success. This golf is all about love and celebrating love,” he said.
