Samson was among suspected thieves who managed to run away when three of their members were killed by mob justice on November 10 as they were coming from a suspected robbery in Chigumula Township in Blantyre.

Limbe Police Station deputy spokesperson Pedzisai Zembeneko, in an interview on Tuesday, said the court heard that Samson who was residing in Chileka Township went to Chigumula Township, in the company of his friends, where they broke into a tavern and stole assorted items valued at K275 000 ($459.38).

Samson’s three accomplices died after being severely beaten and torched by an angry mob they met on their way back from a robbery in Chigumula at around 5am on that day.

Zembeneko said the bodies of the three, which were being kept at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) pending identification, were all identified. n
