The Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC) and the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) will this weekend host a three-day workshop towards formulation of strategic plans for the two bodies.
The workshop is the fourth phase of the planning exercise which started towards the end of 2011. It is being coordinated jointly by MOC under the auspices of the Olympic Solidarity and the council under the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
MOC and MNSC are in the process of drafting strategic plans for the years 2012-2016 as the current ones expire this year.

MOC president Oscar Kanjala said the workshop will draw together stakeholders who are key in the performance of MOC and Sports Council.
“We have been going around the country talking to stakeholders at different levels and we got ideas on what people expect of us in our operations and sports delivery.
“So, we would now want to see how we can implement the suggestions. It is important that we have such plans to guide us achieve preferable results in sports development in the country,” said Kanjala.
The workshop starts with a half-day brainstorming session on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, a Zimbabwean facilitator will take charge of the sessions into discussing the ideas.
