A Moldovan club Speranta Nisporeni has expressed interested to sign Nyasa Big Bullets hitman and last season’s TNM Super League Golden Boot winner Chiukepo Msowoya.

But the People’s Team has reportedly made a $50 000 (about K37 million) offer.

The Moldovan team wants to sign Chiukepo on loan

According to a letter to Bullets dated February 15 2019, addressed to Bullets chief executive officer (CEO) Fleetwood Haiya, which The Nation has seen, The Eastern European club wants to sign the burly forward on a two-year loan deal.

Part of the letter reads: “Football Club Speranta Nisporeni would like to collaborate in long term with your club regarding your member Chiukepo Msowoya for a two season transfer with a future sell on percentage.”

The team, which finished the 2018 season on fourth place in Moldovan top-flight league, is guaranteed to participate in the Europa League qualifiers.

Msowoya yesterday refused to comment on the issue and referred this reporter to Haiya.

“I am contracted to Bullets, talk to my boss Haiya,” he said.

When contacted, Haiya said he had not received the offer letter.

“Maybe I should check, but I have not received that offer letter,” he said.

However, according to correspondence between the two teams, which The Nation has seen, Bullets are asking for  $50 000 (about K37 million) from the Moldovan team.

But in their counter-offer, Speranta wrote: “I know the prices in Malawi. It could be a good start for a relationship. And the player could get a chance to show in Europe, and it could be [the] last of his career. But he has a contract with you and you are [the] ones to decide his destiny. Give me a final answer [by] tomorrow [yesterday] so [that] I know what we do next about this position.”

Speranta was founded in 1991 and between 1992 and 1998, they played in the Moldovan top league before they were relegated to the lower league. They were promoted back into the National Division League in 2015.

Moldova are ranked 170 on Coca Cola/Fifa World Rankings, 41 places below Malawi.

Chiukepo’s last played in a foreign league two years ago when he had an unsuccessful six-month stint at South African Premier Soccer League side Golden Arrows.
