Molele teams win Chiyembekeza Trophies

Molele Madrid FC and Molele Madrid Sisters used home ground advantage to win the K1.7 million (about $5 666) Dr Allan James Chiyembekeza Thyolo South West Constituency football and netball trophies, respectively.

In football, Molele came from behind to force a 2-2 draw with Nandolo FC and went on to win 5-3 on penalties. Man of the match Felix Amon gave Nandolo an early 2-0 lead with two individual solo efforts in the first-half. Molele hit back through Jones Kacheka and Peter Kaleso.

Molele received K100 000 and a floating trophy whereas Nandolo got K75 000. Madrid Sisters beat Chinzama Queens 9-5. The winners received K75 000 and a trophy whereas Chinzama got K50 000. Losing quarter-finalists in football got K7 000 while those in netball got K5 000

Chiyembekeza said he was impressed with the competition as it was professionally run.

“We will make it an annual event and the next competition will start before end of the year,” said Chiyembekeza.
