The lightweight title fight rematch between champion Crispin Moliati and challenger Malani Kayuni will take place on September 8 at the Lilongwe Community Centre ground, promoters Fast Boxing Promotions have announced.

The bout is pegged at K300 000 (about $750) from which Moliati will pocket K150 000 (about $375) whereas Kayuni will get K100 000 (about $250) regardless of who wins. Each boxer will get K25 000 (about $62.50) before the fight to use during preparations.

The two fought last July at Summit Cultural Centre in Biwi, Lilongwe when Kayuni failed to wrest the belt from Moliati.

“I made a mistake in the first fight by letting him last 12 rounds. I need to win the rematch through a knock out. I am looking forward to this fight. I want to finish him off,” said Kayuni.

Moliati sounded upbeat about the result next month.

“People saw how I messed up his face. It surprises me that he still wants to fight me. I must fight him just to shut him up. He is no match for me. It is becoming difficult to find boxers to fight me these days. It is high time sponsors started arranging international bouts for me,” he said.
