Born Afrikan Productions, the organisers of the Morgan Heritage encore show, are racing against time to find a new venue for the concert slated for April 30 in Lilongwe.

Initially, the show was expected to take place at Silver Stadium but in a twist of events the stadium will be undergoing renovations.

The imminent change of the venue was announced on Tuesday through Born Afrikan’s Facebook page.

Reads the statement in part: “Greetings to all the Morgan Heritage fans and Born Afrikan Productions fans alike. As one of the organisers, I would like to inform you that the show on 30th April in Malawi is definitely on, but it won’t be taking place at the Silver Stadium as we would have loved due to the renovations that are to start soon at the stadium.”

In a separate interview, Born African said the organising team is working to identify another venue for the concert.

But Morgan Heritage fans are demanding to know the venue of the concert as soon as possible.

One fan, Aubrey Mazibuko, wrote on the page: “Where is it going to be? We ready fi dem. Big up BA productions.”

Another fan, Zalephapenia Johnstone, wondered about the type of renovations that were taking place at Silver Stadium.

He said: “What kind of renovations? Perhaps the stadium managers are cautious of the reactions of the fans since this group had cheated the nation before. Why risking their facility. By the way, renovations starting during rainy season? Anyway, I love u Born Afrikan though your music is hardly found here and I can’t miss Morgan Heritage. You are doing a good job.”

But Silver Strikers general secretary Fred Kalonga said the stadium routinely closes for renovations when the TNM Super League is off season.

Morgan Heritage is a reggae band formed in 1994 by five children of reggae artist Denroy Morgan, namely Peter “Peetah” Morgan, Una Morgan, Roy “Gramps” Morgan, Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan.

This will be the group’s second visit to Malawi after their December show left fans disappointed when they performed using a CD (back  track).
