Moyale Barracks reject new kit

Moyale Barracks have rejected the Puma sets of uniforms, arguing that they do not have their colours.

The Mzuzu-based soldiers put on their old Adidas uniform when they faced Mighty Wanderers in their 2012 opening TNM Super League match on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium.

Team manager Victor Phiri on Sunday confirmed that they had rejected both sets they were given.

“We have informed Sulom that we cannot use the kits because they do not represent our colours.

“They [Sulom] gave us a yellow kit with green stripes for our home games, but our traditional colour is green and not yellow.

“In addition to that, they gave us a black and white kit for away matches; yet we use white and green. We feel proud to be identified by our colours.

“We are still keeping the uniforms. We have taken up the matter with Sulom and we hope they will act on the matter,” said Phiri after the game against the Nomads.

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) general secretary Williams Banda on Sunday said he needed to follow up on the issue as he was in Lilongwe.

Moyale lost the match 3-2.
