Moyale Sisters retain North FAM Cup

Moyale Sisters defeated Kwaito Sisters 3-1 on Saturday at Luwinga Sports Complex in Mzuzu to retain the Northern Region Women’s Football FAM Cup Championship.

Naomi Mwale scored twice for Moyale in 20 minutes and 85 minutes while Mwawi Ziba scored the other goal after 35 minutes.

Kwaito Sisters earned their consolation goal through Violet Chihana just 55 minutes into the game.

The two teams qualified for regional cup finals having earned semi-final victories.

Moyale defeated Rumphi Sisters 2-0 while Kwaito Sisters thrashed Ekwendeni Sisters 4-1.

Despite the victory, Moyale team manager John Chimwala said the journey to success is not yet over as they will continue to train hard to scoop national championship.

“Of course, we have lifted the regional championship, but it will be too early to express happiness. Our aim is to qualify for this year national championship. We still have a long way to go,” said Chimwala after the match.

Ekwendeni Sisters defeated Rumphi Sisters 2-1 to earn position three.

With the Saturday win, Moyale have secured a place for October 17 national finals in Blantyre at Chiwembe Technical Centre ground.

According to National Women Football Association (NWFA) chairperson

Severia Chalira, Moyale will face D.D Sunshine from the Central Region, Blantyre Zero and Ntopwa Super Queens from Southern Region.

National Women Football Committee (NRFA) allocated K400 000 as

cash prize for regional champions. The runners-up are getting K200 000 while the third position team is receiving K100 000.
