Moyale tumble to rookies Kabwafu

Moyale Barracks FC were on Sunday beaten 2-1 by rookies Kabwafu FC in the K65 million ($260 000) TNM Super League at Mzuzu Stadium, condemning Victor Phiri to his third defeat as team manager.

Moyale must thank their goalkeeper Chenga Charles Sikwewa for not losing with a bigger margin. Malumbo Chiumia and Charles Chilembo scored spectacular goals for the Mzimba side in each half of the game.

The Kaning’ina soldiers, who also lost 2-3 to MTL Wanderers and 1-2 to Epac FC the previous weekends, were not bad as they too produced some classic football through youthful Mike Chigalu, Boyboy Chima and Ernest Zimba, who supplied beautiful crosses before substitute Lessman Singini grabbed a late consolation.

“I congratulate Kabwafu on their feat. They are a good side, well-disciplined and should they maintain their standards, definitely they will stay in the league,” Moyale coach Nicholas Mhango said Monday.

On his part, Kabwafu coach Oscar Kaunda said he told his boys to go flat-out, jump at every ball and they finally grabbed all the points. He appealed to their fans to continue supporting them, saying they, too, will pay back the goodies.

Kabwafu have six points from three games while Moyale are yet to register a point.
