“The Music4life concerts are using the power of entertainment thus music to reach out to thousands and millions of Malawians with messages on how to lead healthy lives. The concerts are part of Ministry of Health’s Moyo ndi Mpamba, Usamalireni Health Campaign which seeks to promote good health and wellbeing amongst individuals and families.

“From the concerts, we are now working on a music album which will be a compilation of health songs, focusing on the theme- Moyo ndi Mpamba that artists composed and performed during the festivals. In this way, millions of Malawians will continue to hear these messages through the songs as they will be aired on radio stations. We have no plans to sale the albums but rather to work with radio stations to air them,” said in an interview SSDI-Communication Deputy Chief of Party, Alinafe Kasiya.

The album is scheduled to be out together with a music video of the Moyo ndi Mpamba theme song.

“We worked with three artists in the north and a couple others in the south and central including our ambassadors, Skeffa Chimoto, Lulu and Ethel Kamwendo Banda who already composed the theme song. As such, the all star music album, will be out in the next few weeks together with the theme song’s music video which the artists are working on currently,” he explained.

The aim of the album is to see millions of Malawians continue hearing key messages through the songs as they are aired on radio stations.

Stated kasiya: “During the past few weeks we have seen thousands of people flocking to these festivals, and also millions being reached through print and electronic media. We are also reaching many more people through our other activities such as Cheni Cheni Nchiti radio program, Moyo ndi Mpamba radio drama program, community rallies at district level, radio spots, and distribution of a key booklet with health messages to thousands of families in 15 districts, and many other activities.”

The Moyo ndi Mpamba campaign is tackling six health topics; nutrition,

family planning, maternal, neonatal and child health, malaria, water, sanitation and hygiene, and HIV and AIDS. It is being implemented by SSDI-Communication for the ministry of health with funding from USAID.
