Blantyre City Central MP Eunice Makangala on Saturday saluted Ndirande Matope Water Users Association (WUA) for clearing a K4 million (about $11 764) debt they inherited from their predecessors.

Makangala, who is also Minister of Labour, was speaking during the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) held in Ndirande where she encouraged water users to work hard to beat the record they have set.

Said Makangala: “The WUA was established three years ago to help sort out problems facing communities in the constituency. Now we are expecting to see more social responsibility work being done as per our Constitution.”

WUA board chair Edward Mlotha said they have lined up several activities to be carried out in the constituency.

“We have planned to construct bridges in the feeder roads, paying school fees for less-privileged students and supporting the elderly, among other projects.

“The big project we are planning to embark on is the construction of our office premises in the area and the procurement of office equipment,” said Mlotha.
