Blantyre City East parliamentarian Noel Masangwi on Wednesday handed to Nkolokoti community the K79 million Mpata Primary School built under the Blantyre City Council’s Local Development Fund (LDF).

Masangwi said he was happy that the school has finally opened, saying it will ease challenges children from the area were facing to access education.

He said the school, which was initiated by his predecessor John Bande, who was also present at the function, will help ease pressure on Nkolokoti Primary School.

“Many children from this area were also hit by cars when trying to cross the road at Khama Market to go to Nkolokoti Primary School. Today, because of this school, those cases will be history,” said Masangwi.

Senior group village head Matenje said the school is important because it will help children start school at the desired age.

The new school comprises two classroom blocks, toilets, head teacher’s house and an administration block.
