MP urges communities to do business

Member of Parliament (MP) for Blantyre West Constituency, Peter Kumpalule, has urged people in his constituency to embrace the mindset of doing business, rather than depending on handouts.

Kumpalule made the remarks on Friday after he attended a business discussion at Kachanga Primary School in Chileka.

“I told them that once they put me in power, I will bring a business discussion where experts from different departments teach them how to do business,” said Kumpalule.

Speaking during the discussion, Mike Kapala, an official from Opportunity Bank, said he was pleased to interact with the community, noting “it is also an opportunity to us as a bank since we are working with people who are much into business, mostly farmers”.

One of the participants, John Kadangwe, from Dambo Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Kumtaja’s area commended the MP for the discussion, saying it was an eye-opener.

“I own a garage and I need a loan to buy tools, as such, this meeting has been very helpful in many aspects,” said Kadangwe.

The councillor for the area also attended the discussion.
