Mphande shines in Old Mutual Snrs Golf

 

Chadwick Mphande on Saturday turned on a vintage display to win the Old Mutual (Malawi) Limited Seniors’ Golf Tournament played on ball game format at Country Club Limbe (CCL).

Mphande registered a score of minus two to count out Patrick Chiona while James ‘JJ’ Chikapa was third on minus three.

For his feat, Mphande went away with a K200 000 IntoSports shopping voucher.

“I am very excited to have won this tournament, it has been quite sometime since I last won a tournament,” said Mphande.

CCL golf captain Yotamu Saka and Doreen Kabvala won the men and women’s categories, respectively and went away with K100 000 shopping vouchers each. James Chimwaza had the longest drive.

Old Mutual group acting chief executive officer Edi th Jiya said they sponsored the event to interact with the senior golfers most of whom are their clients.

“You are saving through your pension and retirement packages. When a senior golfer and you retire, it’s  your retirement package that takes care of you and if you are still able to come through and play golf, it means you invested wisely.

“Remember that when you retire people forget about you, but we will still be with you until death do us part. It is important that we engage with our life long clients and we are excited about maximising your assets to achieve financial well-being,” she said

CCL board member Gilbert Chirwa, who was also one of the organising committee members, thanked Old Mutual for sponsoring the tournament. n
