Lilongwe youth football coach Dave Mpima is now Central Region Football Coaches Committee chairperson following elections held at Nankhaka ground on Saturday.

Mpima, who manages a football academy in Lilongwe, defeated Peter Mgangira and Audlow Makonyola, said spokesperson Millias Pofera.

“I want three quarters or 95 percent of the coaches in the region to be highly qualified,” Mpima said yesterday.

Additionally, Mpima—who replaced Dave Chirwa at the helm—said he has promising contacts for sponsorship across Europe in countries such as Scotland and Switzerland. Chirwa resigned.

The committee’s vice-chairperson is George Ng’onamo, brother to former Big Bullets coach Eddingtone Ng’onamo, whose other brother Gilbert is also treasurer of the committee.

A Malizani and a Sibale are vice-treasurer and general secretary respectively. George Zulu and Abbas Makawa are committee members.
