In a dramatic twist of events, Surestream FC has finally parted ways with its technical director Peter Mponda.

Surestream public relations manager Linda Chiume-Gombera and Mponda himself confirmed the development yesterday.

“Management of Surestream has regrettably accepted Mr. Mponda’s recent resignation and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” said Chiume-Gombera.

She, however, could not be drawn to comment on what became of Surestream board chairperson Chris Pitman’s intervention to persuade the former Flames captain to hang on.

“I cannot say much on that suffice to say, Chris signed the letter accepting Peter’s resignation,” said Chiume-Gombera.

She dismissed suggestions that Mponda’s surprise exit is related to the team’s poor run. She also said as of now, they are yet to identify his replacement.

On his part, Mponda said: “It is true, we have agreed to a mutual termination of my contract and I wish them all the best.

“Keith Robinson [the general manager] brought me a letter accepting my resignation and that was it.” He could not be drawn to state his next move.

Mponda was considered the face of Surestream having been at the hub of the academy when it was formed and he built a strong team that made it to the Super League within two years. However, the going has been tough for the rookies in the top-flight league in which they are second from the bottom with three points from eight games. 
