Mpulula dumps Max Bullets

Barely two weeks before the TNM Super League kicks-off and four months after being hired as coach, Leo Mpulula has dumped Max Bullets over disagreements on players’ contracts with the team’s owner Max Kapanda.

Mpulula said he decided to quit his job after failing to convince the club’s owner to offer better contracts to his players.

The coach said Kapanda was offering the players K100 000 signing-on fee for a three year-contract, a development Mpulula felt was unfair.

“K100 000 is monthly salary for a player these days ,” said Mpulula said.

Mpulula said the players he wanted to sign had left after refusing the K100 000 signing-on fee.

“I have worked had to identify these players so that we can build a formidable side. Why should I stay when the players that I felt would help me have left?” wondered Mpulula.

Max Bullets owner Kapanda confirmed the development in an interview yesterday.

He, however, said the club would not be affected since it already made up its mind to let Mpulula go.

Mpulula was yet to sign a contract. n
