Mpulula’s resignation disappoints Tigers

Azam Tigers chairperson Sydney Chikoti has said the Kau Kau are disappointed in coach Leo Mpulula’s dramatic resignation.

Reports link Mpulula with a move to Civo United.

“I believe he has resigned. My general secretary told me so. It is a free world, people have rights. We feel he is no longer interested to coach Tigers,” Chikoti said on Monday.

Mpulula was not readily available for comment on Monday, but he confirmed to MBC Radio One on Sunday that he had resigned “but it is pending”.

Mpulula joined Tigers from Blantyre United midway last season. Ironically, Civo appear to have switched their interest from Blantyre United trainer Elia Kananji who worked as Mpulula’s right hand man for many years.

Mpulula leaves after three straight consecutive losses at Tigers, the latest being a 2-0 punishment by Mafco last week.
