Barely three days after Blantyre City Council warned (BCC) warned musicians and artists to desist from rowdy promotions along the streets as it disrupts attention of the public, Police on Tuesday arrested comedian Mr Jokes for the offence.
Andrea Thunyiwa, popularly known as Mr Jokes, has been known for cracking jokes at public functions, buses and television stations and has released a number of DVDs.
The 31-year old comedian was arrested around Nandos in Blantyre as he and his team was selling DVDs via a PA system in the middle of Blantyre city.

According to eye witnesses, Police personnel had approached Mr Jokes and three colleagues around 4pm to lower the volume of their sound system which they did.
“But for a short while after the police were gone they turned it up again. Then the police came back and arrested the three,” the eye witness said.
Blantyre Police acting spokesperson Andrew Mayawo confirmed that they arrested Andrew Thunyiwa from Mwavi Village TA Nsabwe in Thyolo, who is popularly known as Mr Jokes and has been charged for causing common nuisance.
“He has been arrested along with three of his colleagues Lovemore Mandande aged 29, from TA Chimaliro in Thyolo, Justin Leviyo aged 23 from Nkolokosa Village TA Chimaliro in Thyolo and Andrew Nedi aged 31 from Wisiki Village TA Machinjiri in Blantyre,” said Mayawo.
Mr Jokes risks a maximum of one year sentence if the court finds him guilty.
