MSB head of retail and business banking, Teddie Chanza, said the bank has grown in terms of customers and deposits through promotions such as Mwayi wa Nzama.

In 2012, he said the number of bank accounts increased by almost 55 percent.

“We have been running Mwayi wa Nzama Promotion for three years and each year, we saw more and more opening accounts. We hope our customers will continue to support us,” said Chanza.

He said the bank wants Malawians to develop and nurture the saving culture.

On Wednesday, MSB gave out prizes worth over K3 million during the last draw of the promotion which has been running since June 2012.

“We wanted people to keep money in their accounts and that has been achieved.

“During the promotion, we opened about 3 000 accounts and raised about K1 billion in deposits,” said Chanza.
