MSC Silver off to OGPlastics cricket flying start

MSC Silver got off to a flying start in the inaugural OG Plastics 25-Overs Cricket Tournament on Sunday with a 177-160 runs triumph over hosts Indian Sports Club (ISC).

Aasif Rustam was the best batsman on the day as he made 91-runs to confirm MSC Silver’s determination of earning a double this season.

“We are determined to win this competition also,” said MSC Silver’s captain Saeed Limdawala after the match. “This is a good start to a new competition which uses a new format.”

In another match, Abaiajit Jadeja claimed two wickets and made 38 runs as Oriental Cricket Club (OCC) used home ground advantage to beat MSC Veterans by 20 runs. OCC made 163 runs against Veterans’ 143.

MSC Blue were also on song at OCC as they beat MSC Blue by 30 runs after making 128runs.

OG Plastics managing director Abdul Wahab Jagot alongside his counterpart at their sister company OG Furniture Salman Hanif made official presentation of the K800 000 (about $2 600) support to the Southern Region Cricket League (SRCL) chairperson Shiraz Zaveri in Blantyre last Thursday.

According to Zaveri, the contest will run for nine weeks and will involve all the league’s 12 teams.
