FAM general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda said the association had to dig deeper to buy the car.

He, however, stressed that it was not FAM’s responsibility to buy a car for the coach.

“The national football team coach’s car is the responsibility of Malawi government,” Nyirenda said.

“The coach signed a contract with government. They are civil servants, but attached to FAM.

Nyirenda said the contract the coach signed with government clearly states that FAM is responsible for fuel and service of the car.

He, however, said the association had to buy the car because of the plight of the coach.

Mtawali said he would comment after officially getting the car.

However, after FAM promised to buy a car for him, he said it would go a long way in easing transportation problems.
