But Nomads general secretary Mike Butao could neither confirm nor deny courting Mtawali, who is also linked with a move to Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Premier Division side FC Surestream.

“All I can say is that when we name an assistant coach, people will know why the process took long.

“We have not identified an assistant coach yet and who knows, those that we have hired on temporal basis might be engaged permanently depending on their performance,” said Butao.

He disclosed that they have temporarily roped in their former forward McDonald Yobe and Trevor Kajawa as co-assistant coaches.

Butao said the two have been hired to take charge of the team in the absence of Phiri who is with the Under-20 national soccer team in Zambia.
