Flames caretaker assistant coaches Ernest Mtawali and Patrick Mabedi were expected to start an A level coaching course in Hennef, Germany on Monday.

The duo left for Germany on Sunday morning and the advanced coaching course will run up to May 3.

According to FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda, the two upcoming coaches have been sent to Germany in line with the association’s plans to recruit them on a long-term basis after their probation in July.

“FAM would like to thank the German FA for continuing to provide training programmes for our coaches and it is our hope the knowledge they will gain will play a big role in improving the performance of the national team,” said Nyirenda.

Mtawali and Mabedi said the intensive training will cover a number of areas and will involve both practical and theory.

“We are very grateful to FAM and the German FA for offering us this opportunity and we are hopeful that the knowledge we stand to gain will benefit Malawi football.

“We’ll also impart the knowledge gained to fellow coaches,” said Mtawali.

FAM has been sending coaches to Germany for similar courses.
