FAM has said that newly appointed Flames caretaker deputy coaches Ernest Mtawali and Patrick Mabedi are scheduled to attend an advanced coaching course in Germany next month.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu made the announcement during the unveiling ceremony of the caretaker coaching panel on Tuesday in Blantyre.

“Plans are already there to send Ernest and Patrick to attend an advanced Uefa Coaching Course in Germany for three weeks starting April 15.

“It is our commitment to support the new technical panel and equip them with the right training.

“Football is dynamic and scientific and, therefore, the knowledge gained 10 years ago is no longer applicable. There is need to move with the times and be abreast with the new techniques and tactics,” said Nyamilandu.

Mtawali said they are thankful to FAM.

“As the president rightly observed, the game of football is very dynamic and the tactics keep on changing everyday, hence, the need for coaches to upgrade all the time,” said Mtawali.

Mtawali and Mabedi have Uefa B coaching licenses obtained from England and Germany respectively.
