SRNL general secretary Anne Hanjahanja on Friday confirmed that MTL met Thursday’s cut-off point by paying the participation fees.

SRNL had warned that MTL risked being barred from contesting in this year’s OG Issa League had they not paid participation fee by Thursday.

“They [MTL Queens] have paid the participation fees and they have been registered,” said Hanjahanja.

She also said in view of the development, the launch game between the Queens and title-0holders Escom Sisters in the 2012 league opener at the Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC) this afternoon, is on.

Hanjahanja dismissed suggestions that this afternoon’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between the Flames and Chad to be played at Kamuzu Stadium, will affect the hype of the launch.

Queens were the only ones, out of 11 teams in the competition, that were yet to pay participation fees.

Before kick-off, each participating team is supposed to pay K24 000 (about $96)—K10 000 (about $40) as the club’s fee and K700 (about $2.8) for each of the team’s 20 players.

Queens’ vice-team manager Annie Sanga-Kapatuka confirmed her team’s registration.

“Yes! We have finally paid and we are looking forward to participating in the league,” said Kapatuka-Sanga.
