Meyer: MultiChoice Africa has an important role to play

African stars are descending on the island of Mauritius for one of the biggest entertainment events, MultiChoice Africa’s context extravaganza.

The digital satellite television provider has lined up several activities during its four days glitz and glam event, which has also attracted about 80 journalists from different parts of Africa including Malawi.

So far, Nollywood film stars like Majid Michel, Rita Dominic, Chinedu Ikidieze as well as Big Brother Africa winner Uti Nwachukwu have arrived with more expected in today.

Also in attendance will be MultiChoice Africa chief executive office Nico Meyer, who is scheduled to brief the media on the company’s plans for its customers among the many other issues.

High on the menu during the event, is the launch of Rise Africa Campaign through a song jointly done by six of Africa’s top artists.

The artists are Nigeria’s Davido and Tiwa Savage, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Sarkodie, a Ghanaian hip hop recording artist, Lola Rae, a British singer of Nigerian/Ghanaian descent and South Africa’s Mi Casa.

“MultiChoice Africa has an important role to play in both the economic and social transformation of our continent and we believe that this campaign provides the ideal platform to showcase meaningful change amongst the people of Africa,” said Meyer.

The artists hope to inspire and create a paradigm shift among Africans with their music as there is so much more to celebrate.

The campaign promises to unearth what is right about Africa in the ongoing commitment to making a difference in the lives of all Africans.
