MultiChoice Malawi in Independence Day bash

MultiChoice Malawi has organised an Independence Day treat for both its customers and revelers at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach where a number of entertainment activities have been lined up.

Music, fashion and kids events are the main activities of July 5, at the event dubbed Malawi @50 Beach Celebration.

multichoice“All our customers who have an active account will have free entry to these activities and they will be joined by 10 families that won an all expenses paid for trip and will enjoy full board hospitality at Sunbird Livingstonia. They won the prize in an that we had been running prior to the event. We are looking at an average of four people per family when it comes to our lucky winners. The other people will definitely pay something at the door,” said Chimwemwe Nyirenda, marketing manager at MultiChoice Malawi.

Lucius Banda, Lulu, Nesnes, Gwamba will be joined by the only foreign act of the day Zambia’s B1.

“We are trying to blend different artists so as to bridge the generation gap. Other than live music by these artists, DJ Scarpper will be on the turn tables playing music from 1964, the year Malawi got independence from Britain, to the new millennium. Songs by bands such as Cool and the Gang, Maroon Commandos to the years of TLC, Beyonce and all that will be played,” he said.

Former Big Brother Africa Malawi representative Felicia Ngoma will be the centre of the fashion showcase as her designs will rock the runway during the fashion evolution activity.

“We have named it fashion evolution as we want to showcase the kind of dressing changes Malawi has undertaken since 1964 to this year. It will be walking down the memory lane through fashion,” explained Nyirenda.

Felicia says she is prepared for the showcase saying she is almost done with the designs.

“As you know it will be looking at the changes in fashion Malawi has undergone over the last 50 years, I am meeting different people to provide me with insights on how fashion used to be back then. For instance, I am meeting Mama Cecilia Tamanda Kadzamira, who is one of the fashion icons Malawi has had, just to get ideas from her on dressing to somewhere around 1994.

“I will then meet another woman who will tell me about Malawi’s fashion sense from the coming in of democracy to present day. It will be one nice fashion event, more especially that it will show where we are coming from as a country, where we are and perhaps we are heading to,” she said.

At the kids carnival, children will walk away with different prices.
