Mighty Wanderers have said their legend and former coach Kannock Munde will take charge of the team temporarily in view of the uncertainty surrounding Charles Manda’s availability.

Nomads vice-general secretary Chris Kananji said Munde, who has been appointed team manager, was supposed to act as coach from yesterday.

“Since Kannock is qualified and experienced, he will take charge of the team as we await the return of Gerald Phiri Snr for us to conclude negotiations,” said Kananji.

Phiri is currently with the Under-20 national soccer team in Botswana for Friday’s CAF Youth Championship qualifier.

Manda said he cannot take up the post unless his employers Football Association of Malawi (FAM) clear him.

The position of coach fell vacant following Stuart Mbolembole’s resignation on Saturday evening following the 0-2 loss to Silver Strikers in the opening TNM Super League match.

Barely a day later, the Nomads fired Mbolembole’s backroom staff that had Albert Mpinganjira as assistant coach, Chiyembekezo Zidana as team manager and Vales Kamzere as assistant team manager.
