Munthali unopposed in NYFA polls

 

National Youth Football Association (NYFA) vice-general secretary Chimango Munthali is expected to go unopposed as the association’s chairperson at the elective assembly scheduled for November 25 in Mzuzu.

Outgoing chairperson Mabvuto Missi will not seek re-election.

Said Munthali : “I am humbled and encouraged by my nomination because that is a vote of confidence. I promise that, together, we will move the game forward. I will not disappoint because football is in my blood.

Oswald Lungu, Tiyenkhu Chavula and Christopher Tukula will also go unopposed for the posts of vice-chairperson, treasurer and legal adviser, respectively.

James Sawerengera and Thoko Chimbali will battle it out for the general secretary post.

The two will also fight for the vice-general secretary position alongside Danny Makiyi.

Wasauka Nyirenda, Gommy Mkandawire, Joel Magola and McLoud Munthali will vie for a committee member’s position.

Meanwhile, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda said candidates can only contest for one position as per article 23.8 of the association. n
