The festive season mood is slowly settling and beer and music lovers are in for a treat from ‘Soldier’ Lucius Banda and Zembani Band at Club 24/7 in Blantyre.

On call from Zembani Band will be their usual team comprising band leader Sam Smack, Johnny Zembani Banda, Nepman and Mr Friday, among others.

Crowd puller: Nepman will also be there

Smack said: “We have brought in new equipment which we introduced during our performance at Mingles in Lilongwe last weekend. Those who attended the Lilongwe show can attest to the fact our sound has greatly improved.

“This being our only event over the weekend, people should expect a performance full of energy from the whole team.”

The music party will be combined with a beer party according to Club 24/7 director MacDonald Soko.

The gig, expected to start at 4pm, will run till dawn. Soko said the event is designed to set the festive tone for revellers who enjoy the Castel brands.

“We want people to enjoy themselves and have fun. Whether they will come as families or groups of friends it will still serve the purpose. We will strive to have enough selling points and ensure good security too,” he said.

Entrance at the event will depend on one buying three Castel beers or any three ciders of their choice. Soko said the event is for free but they just want to put some controls on who accesses the gig.

He said: “Our intention is to start as early as possible because the live music performances will be preceded by performances from a number of DJs. It will also give a chance to those who may want to leave before the performances finish.”

Joy FM reporter Hanky Chimtengo said of the event: “As we head into the festive season the vibe among fun seekers is already getting high. With these kind of events people are assured that the season is going to be electric.”
