Musician Chifuniro donates to former school

Gospel musician Chifuniro on Friday donated learning materials such as notebooks, pens and pencils to learners who scooped positions one to three in all classes (One to Seven) at his former school, Msaza Primary School in Salima.

Speaking during the event, the musician said he made the donation to thank God for the blessings he got through the sale of his album.

“I am here to inspire the learners to dream big and look beyond the poverty defining all aspects of their lives, including education,” said Chifuniro.

The artist, whose full name is Chifuniro Eliazar Banda, said his drive to inspire is in line with his vision and the title of his album Maloto Anga, which calls upon listeners to dream big and be ready to face life.

“My next project will be to assist the community build a makeshift bridge to enable students to access the school with ease during the next term,” said Chifuniro.

In a separate interview, Msaza Primary School headteacher Ronnex Mtalimanja thanked Chifuniro for gracing the closing ceremony for the 2021 academic year at the school.

“We are thankful for the donation and inspiration to the pupils. I encourage him to continue with this gesture to inspire more students at the school and even beyond,” he said.

Village head Khote, speaking on behalf of chiefs around Kazupira Zone, thanked Chifuniro for his donation.

He said: “This donation and visit will encourage pupils and parents who saw no value in education to revisit their position.

“Chifuniro explained well that he has a master’s degree in business administration and works as a human resource officer at Seedco Malawi Limited. He is also a musician. He, however, traces his success to this school where he did his primary education.”

Chifuniro recently released an album titled Maloto Anga which is currently on the market.

During the visit, the musician, who also gave out uniforms to all number one pupils, performed two songs such as Maloto Anga and Ndaponda Mwala
