Classic Events communications officer Bashir Amin said the aim of the project is to acknowledge, recognise and celebrate lives of individuals and organisations that have contributed to the development of the Muslim community and the country as a whole.
This year’s event will take place at Chichiri Conference Centre Hall [Comesa] in Blantyre on November 15 where they will award, among others, the Best Muslim organisation, Best Muslim Initiative, Best Learner, Best Nasheed Artist, Best Muslim Comedian, Best Sports Personality and Best Dawah groups for both men and women.
“This is one way of promoting Muslim culture and the promotion of the Islamic religion. We believe by doing so we are encouraging others to work hard and do more,” said Amin.
Former president Bakili Muluzi, former Cabinet minister Muhammmad Sidik Mia and Flames goalkeeper trainer Swadick Sanudi were among the first awardees at last year’s event held at Malawi College of Medicine during Eid Al-Adha.
Said Amin: “Although it is a self-sponsored event, we are asking our partners to sponsor some categories of their choice.”
