Mutharika applauds MCC role
President Peter Mutharika has applauded the role the Malawi Council of Churches (MCC) plays in the country’s development.
Mutharika said this on Thursday at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe during an audience with the MCC delegation.
He said the role of the council cannot be underestimated as it helps in building the faith among the people.
“Many people hate one another and the church should try to unite them so that they learn to love one another,” said Mutharika.
MCC chairperson the Reverend Alex Maulana said MCC is planning to organise national prayers to seek God’s intervention in the prevailing economic challenges in the country.
He said it is MCC’s mandate to provide guidance to the sitting President on matters of national development.
Meanwhile, MCC has agreed to be meeting the President regularly to be updating each other on issues affecting the country.
MCC comprises 25 denominations nationwide
