Malawi President Peter Mutharika has today appealed for love, unity and peace amoung all Malawians.
Mutharika said he wants to see people live in harmony and also love one another.
He was speaking at Ziyara Parade in Lilongwe where Muslims gathered to celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
“I am very glad to be here today to celebrate with Muslim brothers on the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
“My message to Malawians is that lets forget the past and start the New Year 2015 with full of love towards one another,” Mutharika explained.
Parade in Lilongwe2Mutharika wants Malawians to stop hatred, conflicts and violence against one another.
Manzoor Bheda, Chair Board of Trustees Lilongwe Sunni Foundation, said the parade was one of the many activities organized to celebrate the birth of Muhammad.
Bheda explained during the day, Muslims would apart from celebrating Muhammad’s birth also be praying for good rains for this year.
“There will be a lot of things happening but the paramount of all would be sharing of food with the poor and praying for good rains,” Bheda said.

He appealed to Muslims in the country to keep up their faith and continue to love one another.
“I would like to commend the President for having attended the parade and the message to fellow Muslims across the country is that lets keep up with our faith and continue to love one another,” the Board Chair explained.
Every year just as Christian, Muslims celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad. However the ceremony keeps on changing every year depending on the changes on the Muslim calendar.
