Mvaza’s K62m transfer fee among top 15

Flames defender Limbikani Mzava’s transfer from Highlands Park to AmaZulu FC has been rated among top 15 in South Africa’s DStv Premiership domestic window.

The centre-back was among 10 players the Durban-based outfit unveiled alongside Makhehleni Makhaula, Sicelo Mkhize, Siphelele Nene, Thembela Sikhakhane, Samkelo Mgwazela, Siphelele Mthembu, Luvuyo Memela, Augustine Mulenga former Kaizer Chiefs star Siphiwe Tshabalala.

However, Mzava’s is highest at Amazulu and 11th on the rankings which defender Thulani Hlatshwayo R18.4 million transfer from Bidvest Wits to Orlando Pirates tops, according to South African soccer publication Kickoff.com.

Reads the report in part: “Pirates made the most of the clearance sale at Bidvest Wits as they nabbed no less than four stars before their relocation to Venda, including R18.4 million defender Thulani Hlatshwayo.

“Josef Zinnbauer’s side have also released a number of stars, including the likes of Joris Delle, who is valued at just under R15-million according to transfermarkt.com, and Justin Shonga (R11 million).

“Sundowns’ biggest catches were that of Aubrey Modiba, who joined from SuperSport United with an estimated market value of R17.5-million, followed by Gift Motupa (R13.8-million).

“Others big transfers on the list, include Mwape Musonda, who moved to the UAE from Black Leopards, Siyanda Xulu, who left Maritzburg United for Israel, Thabang Monare, Mothobi Mvala, Limbikani Mzava, George Maluleka, Richard Ofori, Justin Shonga and Peter Shalulile.”

Kickoff.com also reports that big names transfers that did not rank highly in the view of the international football statistics resource include Siphiwe Tshabalala’s move to AmaZulu (R2.8-million), Thabo Matlaba to Swallows FC (R6-million) and AS Vita Club striker Jean-Marc Makusu’s loan switch to Pirates (R5.5-million).

Two years after appearing for Malawi’s Flames against Cameroon, Mzava has failed to return to the national team duty twice—firstly due to club commitment as he was sealing his move to Amazulu after being sacked at Highlands Park and in the latest call up due to Covid-19 positive test results.
