Police in Blantyre on Tuesday arrested Big Bullets FC main supporters committee chairperson Stone Mwamadi, secretary Mabvuto Chibambo, ex-chairperson Isaac Jomo Osman and three others in connection with the ransacking of the team’s offices in Blantyre on Monday morning.

Blantyre Police spokesperson Elizabeth Divala confirmed the arrests yesterday, saying Mwamadi has been charged with receiving stolen goods while Chibambo, Osman  and the others were charged with conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

Divala said the accused persons were called for questioning in connection with the incident following a complaint lodged by some Bullets officials.

“I can confirm that Mwamadi is in police custody pending further investigations. It is alleged that a number of items including foreign currency amounting to $5 000 [about K2.2 million] went missing following the ransacking.

“The others were arrested for conduct likely to cause breach of peace because they started shouting at police officers who were investigating the matter,” said Divala.

Mwamadi and Chibambo could not be reached for their comment yesterday.
