Mwamaso: I would like to trim down a kilogramme more

Super middleweight champion Felix Mwamaso has shed off three kilogrammes ahead of a bout against middleweight holder Chimwemwe Chiotcha at Lilongwe Community Centre Ground next Sunday.

Mwamaso,22, currently training at Chikale Beach in Nkhata Bay, said his weight now stands at 70kg, the same as his Malawi Defence Force (MDF) opponent.

“The bout will be fought at 70kg-class but I would like to reduce one more kilogramme,” he said.

Mwamaso is camping under the guidance of coach Gabriel Kondowe at the beach so that he can enhance his endurance levels in the ring by jogging in the sand.

On the other hand, Chiotcha, 26, is camping in Liwonde where he is being assisted by fellow pugilists George Kandulo, Kudakwache Banda and Dickson Ngwale.

“I am more than ready to sort this kid out in the ring. I do not know where he got the confidence from to challenge the ‘Rhino.’ He should know that he made a dangerous and disastrous choice,” Chiotcha said.

So far, Mwamaso has won all his 10 professional bouts while Chiotcha has 12-knockout wins and a draw.

According to Mwai Boxing Promotions director Danson Lanken Milisi, the match will be curtain-raised by a bout between Aubrey Masamba and Robert Kachiza.
