Mwawi Kumwenda was again at her best as she helped her Peninsula Waves to beat North East Blaze 55-45 at home in the Victorian Netball League (VNL) on Wednesday.

Mwawi made it 92 baskets in four days after she scored 45 past Genesis on Sunday.

Her high-shooting percentage has improved her chances of winning the Top Goal Shooter Award at the end of the season.

Currently, Waves are on second position among the 10 teams in VNL, but have a game in hand against side Hume City who lead with 47 points while Waves have 45.

The Leader and The Weekly newspapers of Melbourne have been awash with praise for Mwawi, whose coach said it has been a huge team effort to withstand competition and be among the top teams in the league at this stage.

“We have put a lot of things in place and we have a great team atmosphere at the moment,” Pym told the papers.

In a telephone interview from Australia this week, Mwawi paid attributed her superb performance to God.

“It thank God for taking me this far. My game is developing by each match. I hope to maintain this level to help my team win the championship. My coach, my teammates are all wonderful and I am enjoying myself here,” she said.
