Malawi national netball team and Melbourne Vixens lofty shooter Mwawi Kumwenda has landed a sponsorship from Australian Nissan motor vehicle franchise dealers Berwick Nissan.

The authorised Nissan car-dealers unveiled Mwawi yesterday in Australia.

A statement from Nissan Berwick yesterday stated that they had been swayed by Mwawi’s exploits both at club and international level.

“We are proud sponsors of Mwawi. The star of the Malawi national netball team’s international career spans over 70 tests, including the 2018 Commonwealth Games, 2015 World Cup, in which she was named player of the tournament and a third place in the 2016 Fast5 World Series.

“She was the star in Malawi’s sensational win over New Zealand at the recent Commonwealth Games. Scoring 598 goals at 93 percent for 2017, be sure to keep an eye on Mwawi on court in 2018,” reads the statement in part.

The shooter has started the 2018 season on a high note, scoring 34 baskets at 100 percent shooting accuracy when Vixen narrowly edged NSW Swift 63-61 in their second match of the Super Netball season.

As part of the sponsorship, Berwick Nissan has spoiled Mwawi with a brand new 2018 Nissan Qashqai N-TEC which she collected yesterday.

Worth about $36 490 (about K26 million), the Nissan Qashqai N-TEC was launched early this year and is regarded as one of the top-range SUVs.

In a Facebook post, Mwawi thanked the car-dealers for recognising her achievements.

Berwick Nissan is an Australian company owned by Berwick Motor Group.
