Malawi’s lone netball export Mwawi Kumwenda has pulled out of the Fast Five global netball action scheduled for November this year in New Zealand.

She confirmed the development on Wednesday

According to her, dates of the competition will coincide with the week she is scheduled to undergo an operation.

“Much as I would love to be with the girls and contribute towards the success of the team, I won’t be able to. I will be having an operation.

“I, however, have faith that the girls will perform well. I wish them all the best so that they deliver,” she said.

Kumwenda, who started her career at Escom Sisters, has become an integral part of the Queens’ success since she debuted six years ago.

In a sad development, Kumwenda suffered a personal tragedy on Tuesday when she lost a brother, who passed on Tuesday.

“It’s a shock. I can’t believe it,” she said.
