Felix Mwamaso will face Alick Mwenda in a 12-round middleweight national title bout at Lilongwe Community Centre ground on November 8.

The bout has been organised by New Dawn Boxing Promotion.mwando

“This is a title bout and boxing fans should expect more fireworks. Mwenda and Mwamaso are among the top local boxers,” said New Dawn director Mike Chimaliza on Friday.

He said this will be the second time for New Dawn to organise a bout involving the two.

During their previous bout in 2013, Mwenda lost to Mwamaso on points.

The promoter said they will assign professional judges for the bout to ensure fairness.

“I have already engaged the Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board [MPBCB] to provide us with good judges. This is a big fight and it requires professional judges,” he said.

Meanwhile, the two boxers have already set out a flurry of mind games.

“I am a better boxer and he knows that. I am planning for a knockout,” said Mwamaso.

But Mwenda, who claims to have won 14 out of 20 professional bouts, played down Mwamaso’s outburst, saying he will not last the distance.

“I know that he is also a good boxer, but this time around he won’t stand the heat,” said Mwenda.

Chimaliza said there will also be other supporting bouts.

“We have invited good boxers from across the country and boxing fans should expect a fiesta,” he said.
