Fast Sports Boxing Promotions have organised a non-title welterweight 10-round fight between Alick Mwenda and Limbani Masamba at Motel Paradise in Blantyre on February 10.

The stable’s general secretary Leornard Metazama said the fight was organised after Limbani challenged Mwenda.

“The winner will get K70 000 (about $205) while the loser will pocket K60 000 (about $176) We expect the fight to be exciting since the two are good fighters,” said Metazama.

Both Masamba and Mwenda’s camps confirmed that the fight is on next week.

Masamba’s manager, Poison Nkhoma, said although they are yet to sign the contract with Fast Boxing Promotions, his boxer has intensified training.

“As I am talking to you, he is training at his Chilomoni gym. We hope to finalise contract signing on Thursday (yesterday), but I can assure the fans that my boxer is ready to spoil Mwenda’s record,” said Nkhoma.

Masamba, according to Nkhoma, is training with Chifundo Upindi and Limbani Lano as sparring partners.

Mwenda, who is training at Kamuzu Barracks gym in Lilongwe, said he is confident of beating Masamba.

“I will beat him up to send a message to other boxers not to underrate me,” said Mwenda, who is being trained by fellow boxers Osgood Kayuni and Chrispin Moliati.
